Event Details

Learn what’s in the Grand River, running next to the Grand Rapids Public Museum! Using scientific testing taught by Museum staff, participants in this Curiosity Lab will measure the pH of the water, measure how much dissolved oxygen is in the water and try other water quality tests! We will be hands-on with the river, identifying and counting insects that we find. These tests will give participants the information needed to learn how healthy the Grand River is. Plan to wear clothes that can get dirty or wet as we will be working with water samples.

Labs are designed for children to work alone or to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Children 8 and under are required to have a parent or guardian with them. Each child participant will need to purchase a ticket for a “lab seat,” and each lab seat is allowed 2 complimentary helpers (parents or guardians) Tickets are $4 per child participant and include general admission to the Museum. Limited tickets available.

This Lab is also offered at 1 p.m. Click here for that time slot.
