Description:
The Intersection of Art and Nature is a series of interactive programs that explore the artistic inspiration drawn from the Grand River Watershed. Through their sponsorship, this program is made possible by Downtown Grand Rapids Inc.
As we eagerly count down to the Museum’s Grand River Adventure event, slated for September 16, this session delves into the diverse aquatic life of the Grand River. Visitors can expect to discover creation stations peppered throughout the first floor, each offering hands-on activities tailored for all ages. There will surely be an engaging experience to captivate every learner.
The Intersection of Art and Nature extends its purview to environmental stewardship, emphasizing the significant role art can play in educating and inspiring communities towards conservation. The program will incorporate elements from the Fashion + Nature, West Michigan Habitats, and Grand Fish, Grand River exhibits.
By juxtaposing these with artifacts from the Museum’s collections and specimens from the river, we aim to foster an immersive experience, underlining the profound connections between art, nature, and our collective responsibility towards the environment.
Activities will include:
- Fish origami
- Gyotaku fish prints
- Bug identification and sketching
- Fish sculpture
- Fish tessellations
- Dried plant and flower collages
