Join the Mayfly Project at the GRPM to discover our Grand River Watershed through the fun of fly fishing. The Mayfly Project will be leading two sessions where you can learn how to tie flies! Head to the third floor at 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to make your very own fly!
Plus, authors and musicians Ryan and Lisa Cummins will lead two interactive story time sessions of their acclaimed children’s book Rufus and Bea. From the husband-and-wife musical duo and co-creators of Tiny Prime, the Rufus & Bea series helps families and friends enjoy the simple ritual of singing songs together, all while cultivating positive mental health and well-being for children.
Sessions will be at 11:30 a.m. in the Barrel Factory and 1 p.m. in the play area of Habitats, and books will be for sale in the Curiosity Shop!
The Mayfly Project is a national nonprofit organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor and support children in foster care. Fly fishing offers connections to the local aquatic ecosystems, connection, fun, and confidence-building.
About Summer Saturdays: Summer Saturdays expand engagement opportunities at the GRPM to beat the heat inside the Museum or to embrace the heat by exploring the downtown corridor with us. In addition to the blockbuster Sharks exhibit, visitors can explore special themed activities almost every Saturday from June 14 to August 16. Each Summer Saturday focuses on a specific area of science, history, and culture, bringing a different theme and perspective to Museum guests. Mark your calendars to join us for summer fun!
