Unearth the science of your own backyard.
In every backyard, playground, or field, there are adventures to be had and discoveries to be made. Have you ever wondered what the world looks like to a bee? How all the bricks in a path lay perfectly together? How a farmer grows a prize-winning pumpkin?
In Backyard Adventures, you’ll discover all that and more. Designed with children ages 5 to 12 years old in mind, visitors of all ages will leave with a new appreciation for the science that surrounds them every day.
What you'll encounter in this exhibit:
Bee’s Eye View– Take a look at the garden through the eyes of a bee or a dog with special lenses.
Walk Through the Seasons– Stroll through a digital garden and observe the plants growing in super time.
Nectar Collector– Jump on board a flying bee for a bee’s eye-view of the garden. Pollinate flowers and make honey.
Giant Pumpkin Bonanza– Try your hand at creating the world’s biggest vegetable in a specially designed vegetable patch.
Food Web Pond– Explore the intricacies of animal-insect-plant interactions in the pond and how they rely on one another to survive.
The Garden Shed– Step inside the shed and see what you can create with the tools and objects on the work benches.
… and more!
