Join the GRPM’s Chief Curator/VP of Collections, Alex Forist and Director of Public Programs, Rob Schuitema for a special presentation, A Rare Glimpse into the Past: Magic Lantern Slides from the GRPM’s Collections on Saturday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. 

This special presentation will highlight some of the Museum’s Collection of magic lantern slides, the photographic significance of this Collection, photographic processes including hand tinting, toners, vignettes, and more. Attendees will also enjoy viewing a small display of magic lantern slides as well as a demonstration that showcases how the lantern slide projector, circa 1875, works. Each presentation will be approximately 45 minutes with additional time for questions and answers. This program is free with a general admission ticket purchase.

Planetarium Closure Notice

The Roger B. Chaffee Planetarium is closed June 8 through June 15 for the most significant systems upgrade made to our Planetarium in 10 years!

Come back after June 15 to see crisper, cleaner, and more vibrant visuals, and a system capable of showcasing parts of the universe we weren’t able to display before!

Closure Notice

The GRPM will be closed on Thursday, September 12, 2024 for an event. We will re-open on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 9 a.m. 

Late Opening Notice.

On Saturday, May 11, the Museum will open at 12 p.m. due to road closures for the Amway River Bank Run.

Early Closure Notice.

The Museum will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1 for Museum Adventure After Dark. Tickets are still available!
