POPnology.

No longer on display, this exhibit explored some of the greatest works of popular culture inspired technology innovation and imagination in history.

POPnology comes from the combination of pop culture and technology, and showcased how science fiction has become science fact. Dozens of interactive games and modules gave all ages fun challenges from going to space, creating sound waves, moving robots and more. The exhibit included virtual reality opportunities for ages 12 and older.

Iconic replicas were featured throughout the exhibit including a Delorean time machine, androids and extraterrestrials from far-away galaxies and more. Visitors explored human communications and discovered visionaries and futurists who imagined the seemingly impossible, and more.

Visitors had the opportunity to explore and see how technology has been included by movies, books, television, art, and futurists.

Four featured areas explored science and technology in our everyday lives, where we’ve been, and where we’re going: How We Play, How We Connect, How We Move, and How We Live & Work.

POPnology featured:

  • Mars Rocket Builder
  • Mars Lander
  • Virtual projection games
  • Futuristic musical instrument technology
