Experience lasting memories by celebrating at the Grand Rapids Public Museum! Overlooking the Grand River and the downtown cityscape, the GRPM is the perfect place to celebrate or host proms and cocktail receptions. Guests can take a stroll through The Streets of Old Grand Rapids and other exhibitions; even enjoy a memorable ride on the 1928 Spillman Carousel. The Museum’s event staff will assist you in making your event an extraordinary and unique experience for your guests.

Rental Rates

First Floor

Includes our elegant Galleria with dance floor, the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibition, the carousel and all first floor exhibits. This space can accommodate 250 seated guests or 350 standing.

Rental Rates (4 hour blocks)

One additional hour may be added for $500, no event may exceed 5 hours in length.

  • $2,000 (Monday – Thursday)
  • $3,000 (Friday – Sunday)
  • $500 for one additional hour

First & Second Floor

Includes our impressive Galleria with dance floor, the Streets of Old Grand Rapids exhibition, the 1928 Spillman Carousel, plus all first and second floor exhibits. The capacity for this space is 550 standing or 375 seated.

Rental Rates (4 hour blocks, only one additional hour can be added)

  • $2,750 (Monday – Thursday)
  • $3,750 (Friday – Sunday)
  • $500 for one additional hour

Whole Building

Choosing the entire building allows your guests to roam the first floor and all core second and third floor exhibits. Special exhibitions galleries can be added to your rental for a per person fee. The capacity of the entire building is 1,200 standing or 550 seated – perfect for large company and convention events!

Rental Rates (4 hour blocks, only one additional hour can be added)

  • $3,500 (Monday – Thursday)
  • $4,500 (Friday – Sunday)
  • $500 for one additional hour

Rental Add-ons

Meijer Theater

Includes the auditorium with stage, podium and full audiovisual capabilities. (AV technicians available for an additional charge).

Capacity – 255 seated

Rental Rates

  • $500/4 hour block (Monday – Sunday)
  • $1000/8 hour block (Monday – Sunday)

Chaffee Planetarium

Planetarium shows can be added on to any rental at a per show rate.

Sit back and relax as you experience a variety of educational or musical presentations in the Chaffee Planetarium!

Capacity – 147 seated

Rental Rates – $500 each show

Beverage Service

Beverage service must be provided through the Museum and served in accordance with City and State liquor licensing regulations. This includes cash and sponsored bars, champagne toasts, wine service with dinner, alcoholic and non-alcoholic punch, sodas and bottled water. To assist you in your beverage planning contact Jim Ackerman. Food and beverages are permitted in all pre-approved areas only and may not be removed from the premises. All beverage sales are subject to 6% Michigan sales tax and a 21% service fee. All bars are to close one half-hour prior to the end of the event.

Parking

Parking for your guests is available in the Museum’s 209-space parking ramp. There is a $10 charge for each vehicle parked in the ramp. You may cover this cost on behalf of your guests or you may choose to have your guests pay for their own parking. Please contact your event manager for valet parking price.

Rental Extras

The use of oval tables (seat 8-10 people), short/tall cocktail tables, and 8-foot tables (for catering, gifts, registration, etc.) are included in the rental cost of the Museum, as well as set-up and tear down time and clean up of the Museum.

*All receptions are allowed one-half hour after the contracted end time of the event for the removal of items brought into the Museum.

**All Museum rentals require a 100 person minimum for all events.
